Pigments from spent Zn, Ni, Cu, and Cd electrolytes from electroplating industry

چکیده

One of the problems electroplating industry is periodic discharge concentrated spent electrolytes together with rinsing wastewater. This leads to irreversible loss valuable components, as well risk heavy metal ions entering environment, which have toxic, mutagenic, and carcinogenic effects. The paper presents research on processing from zinc, nickel, copper, cadmium plating, collected over 3 years. Pigments various colors were obtained by precipitation phosphate, hydroxide, sodium carbonate. By their properties, i.e., whiteness 95–97%, residue after sieving a sieve up 0.04 wt.%, etc., resulting pigments are not inferior those currently presented world market. Following previous studies, basic technological scheme for waste production proposed. Processing according proposed technology will make it possible reduce concentration acceptable values (0.13–0.65 mg/L) discharge. ensure stable uninterrupted operation local treatment facilities industry.

Fractionation of Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn in floodplain soils from Egypt, Germany and Greece

Trace elements are potentially toxic to human life and the environment. Element toxicity depends on chemical associations in soils. Therefore, determining the chemical form of an element in soils is important to evaluate its mobility and bioavailability. Initial soil development in river floodplains influences soil properties, processes and therefore behavior of trace elements. In this study, t...

Electroplating and characterization of Zn–Ni, Zn–Co and Zn–Ni–Co alloys

a r t i c l e i n f o Zn–Ni, Zn–Co and Zn–Ni–Co coatings were electrodeposited on mild steel from an acidic chloride bath containing p-aminobenzenesulphonic acid (SA) and gelatin. These additives changed the phase content in the coatings, most likely as a result of their adsorption at the surface of the cathode. The effect of gelatin was more pronounced than that of SA. The Faradaic efficiency ...

Sorption of Cu(II), Zn(II) and Ni(II) from aqueous solution using activated carbon prepared from olive stone waste

The performance of olive stone activated carbon (OSAC) for sorption of Cu2+, Zn2+ and Ni2+ ions was investigated via batch technique. OSAC materials were prepared under different physially activation conditions. Olive stone waste was physically activated with N2 gas and steam gas at 900oC at 3.5h hold time (OSAC-3) was choice as the best one for Cu2+, Zn2+ and Ni2+ removal. Characterization for...

Dispersion of Cd , Cr , Cu , Ni , Pb and Zn Particles in a Turbulent Air Flow

From the prospective of air quality, the dispersion of heavy metal pollutants has gain importance in recent past. The pollutants disperse from the point of release to the distant areas transporting contaminants there. Heavy metal pollutants in the form of fine particulate matter can be harmful to human health through inhalation. In this study the lateral dispersion of heavy particles is predict...
